One of the most useful features of the Numark NV DJ controller is the onboard dual 4 inch displays. These screens allow you to DJ without having your laptop open, which can sometimes disconnect you from your crowd. In this guide I will show you how to setup your Mac or Windows laptop so you can close the lid, push the computer to the side, and focus on the dance floor.
Table of Contents:
By default most Windows laptops go into sleep mode as soon as the lid is closed. Follow the steps below to allow for closed lid operation.
IMPORTANT: It is not recommended to use the Never setting. If your gig requires you to use the Never setting, remember to restore defaults when you are finished DJing. If you do not, your computer is at risk of running indefinitely, and could overheat and damage the hardware.
Important: To avoid overheating your computer remember to change the settings above back to their defaults when you are done DJing. Alternatively, you could create a power plan designed specifically for DJing, and switch to that plan when needed. For more info on creating custom power plans see this Windows Article.
By default all Mac laptops go into sleep mode as soon as the lid is closed. Follow the steps below to allow for closed lid operation.
IMPORTANT: It is not recommended to use the Never setting. If your gig is longer than 3 hours, remember to Restore Defaults. Otherwise your Mac will be running indefinitely, and will overheat which could damage the hardware.
IMPORTANT: It is NOT recommended to Start NoSleep Utility on system startup. If you forget NoSleep is running, you might close your computer, put it away into a DJ bag for hours which may cause the device to overheat. Always remember to turn off NoSleep when you are not using the computer!
